Centre Location: Murrumbeena Park 35 Kangaroo Road Murrumbeena 3163

Murrumbeena Auskick is still accepting registrations. See the coordinators during operating hours. Once again we will be having a fantastic year, our programme in 2009 will include grid games against other centres and at half time at the MCG/Telstra Dome, Mother’s Day activities, AFL Superclinic, footy Olympics and the grand finale presentation day where the kids play against the parents plus longest kick competitions and a BBQ. With many of the children eligible to play competition footy this year, we’d like to encourage those who choose to play competition footy on Sunday to keep coming along to Auskick, as eligibility for Auskick is up to and including Grade 6 aged children. As per previous years, we will be running the program on both Saturday from 9.00am -10.30am and Sunday from 10.00am to 11.30am.

WELCOME TO MURRUMBEENA AUSKICK
NAB AFL Auskick Murrumbeena is where champions begin. It is where boys and girls first pull on the boots and learn their drop punts from their torpedos. Safe and fun, NAB AFL Auskick is the ideal introduction to football for children aged from five to 12. Through skill games, activities and modified match practice participants will learn and familiarise themselves with all the skills required to become the next Nick Riewoldt or Chris Judd. NAB AFL Auskick Murrumbeena is facilitated with the help of parents and volunteers and managed by the community, for the community. We have Level 1 accredited coaching staff in all age groups to ensure all of our children are taught correctly from day one. To ensure everyone gets the most out of the NAB AFL Auskick program, participants are split into two groups: ‘Rookie’ and ‘Pro’.

ROOKIE: 5 – 8 years
The NAB AFL Auskick Rookie program is where it all starts. Children from ages five to eight learn the fundamental skills required to participate in Australian football. Rookie sessions usually consist of a warm up, followed by skill activities designed to improve and familiarise participants with the necessary skills of the game. Weekly sessions end in a modified game where children can hone their skills in a safe, controlled environment.

PRO: 9 – 12 years
The NAB AFL Auskick Pro program encourages children to build on the skills they’ve learned throughout the Rookie program. Simulated match activities and drills offer children a more advanced and challenging environment to test their drop punts, handpasses and marks.
Modified match practice is a feature of the NAB AFL Auskick Pro sessions and is important in preparing children for the progression to the next step in the AFL pathway; AFL Junior.
Parents did you know that more than 20,000 volunteers around the country supported the program in 2008? THIS TEAM IS FOR YOU TOO! The involvement of parents is an integral component of the success of the program, so I encourage you to get out of the car and get involved. We will provide you with all the help and advice you need. You do not need to have a background in the game, just the willingness to spend more time with your children, learn new skills, get active and make new friends. Registration fee is $60 per child, which includes 16 clinics, NAB AFL Auskick back pack not to mention insurance, sausage sizzles and ½ time grid games.
So what are you waiting for!!
