The Craig McCallister Presidents Trophy is named after a young boy that played Junior Football and Cricket at Murrumbeena. Craig unfortunately passed away from cancer around 1989 and the trophy was struck in his honour. The normal recipient is an older child in the under 14s, 15s, 16s, or 17s team that has contributed to the club's wellbeing and is held in high regard by all, this also represents Craig's age group from when he passed away. This award has nothing to do with ability, but a kid that tries his best every week and is well liked by all and is a good role model to the younger players in the Club, as was Craig.

In 1995 Ron Matthews (Life Member) introduced an award to be presented by the Secretary of
the Murrumbeena
Junior Football Club to a player at our AGM called the Secretary’s Cup. In
2005 the Committee decided to change this award, firstly by renaming it - The Thomas Murphy
Club Award, and secondly, by amending the criteria.

The Thomas Murphy Trophy is awarded to the best clubperson. This award can be given to any
member of the club, being a player, parent, grandparent, or someone who has contributed to the
running of the club beyond expectation, and usually goes unnoticed. It is f
or continued service to the
club, above and beyond expectations. The normal recipient is generally just an all round good club
person that has consistently contributed in the background to the operations of the club.

Nominations can be made by any member of the club.with the recipient decided upon by the
Murrumbeena Junior Football Club Committee.

The Thomas Murphy award is named after a guy that played junior football for Murrumbeena and
went on to play AFL for Hawthorn. Tom played his first game for the Hawks in Rd 22 2005. In 2008
he won the Hawks’ most improved player award and was an emergency for the 2008 Grand Final. In
2010 he player his 50th game for Hawthorn. The Murphy name is well respected at Murrumbeena
with Tom's father Reg a club Life Member and brother Liam a current player. The award was
renamed in Tom Murphy's honour in recognition of his success and devotion to the Murrumbeena
Junior Football Club.
